Blake richards
for Asotin County Sheriff
As a career public servant, husband, and father who currently serves as the Asotin County Undersheriff, I believe strong leadership, accountability, and community trust are the foundation of public safety.
I have served as a full time firefighter and paramedic with the City of Pullman since 2007 and currently hold the rank of Captain; I spent ten years with Life Flight Network as the Lewiston base manager and customer service manager. In that role, I was responsible for leading teams, managing operations, overseeing budgets, staffing, and making business level decisions in high pressure environments. That experience taught me the importance of balancing mission readiness, safety, and fiscal responsibility while supporting professionals who perform critical jobs every day.
I have been a member of the Whitman County SWAT team since 2010. Four years ago, when fewer people were willing to step into law enforcement, I chose to step forward and serve my community. After years as a reserve deputy, I accepted an emergency hire position with the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office, completed the required field training process, and began working full time as a patrol deputy. I volunteered extensive time on patrol because I believed protecting our community mattered, especially during a period of rising crime and limited staffing, regardless of budget allotments.
Throughout my career, it became clear that my background in leadership, operations, and budget management positioned me to serve at a higher level. Today, I am proud to serve as Asotin County Undersheriff, where I apply the leadership skills I developed in the fire service and at Life Flight to help lead the Sheriff’s Office, support our deputies, and ensure the agency is prepared to meet current and future challenges.
I grew up on a small farm in Malden, Washington, where I learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and looking out for your neighbors. My wife owns a small business, Vybrance Med-Spa, in Clarkston. We have lived in the City of Asotin for fourteen years, and our daughter attends Asotin Elementary.
Asotin County isn’t just where I work, it’s where my family lives and where we plan to stay, it’s my forever home. As sheriff my goal is simple and my priorities will include maintaining professional and constitutional police practices; supporting deputies, corrections staff, and civilian employees; and ensuring transparency and accountability to the people of Asotin County.
